Today I am back with the series Decorating with… We are entering spring and what everyone wants is sun & good weather (yes please, lots of sun). So I am going to tell you about one of my favorite colors (besides this or this one) which is yellow and specifically the yellow mustard. It is a bright and positive color, although in Spain it is not very successful (something I never came to understand because it transmits to me especially good vibes). In the case you like the color but you have never really known how and where to use it, this article is perfect for you.
Living room
Using yellow mustard in the living room is very straightforward, it looks great on the upholstery of sofas or armchairs, especially when the rest of the space is neutral, in white and gray colors. Let’s say yellow is the ideal color to get that “pop of color“.
{It looks great with both modern lines, the case with the first photo, and with more classic lines as in this chester sofa.}
{Yellow, black and white: a combination that does not fail.}
Apart from the upholstery we can opt for a much more brave option, that is to put yellow on the wall, both in the form of paint and wallpaper.
{Yellow was also very present at the latest edition of the Maison & Objet design and decoration fair in Paris. See how to combine different shades of this color.}
Living Room
As it is a neutral color, in the sense that it is neither feminine nor masculine, it looks great in any bedroom. Both masculine combining it with dark colors (as is the case of the bedroom in the photo below), ore more neutral or feminine in combination with lighter colors.
{A very bright bedroom in white as the protagonist lets the mustard yellow look much present. The result is a very clean and fresh environment.}
{It is an ideal color also for the main upholstery of the bedroom: a headboard.}
{Yellow with blue is top, they love each other, from turquoise to electric blue to navy blue.}
{And of course with gray: we get a more serious atmosphere but with a fun and above all an elegant touch.}
Children’s Room
As in the parent’s bedrooms, we can use yellow for both boys and girls. I LOVE how it looks and it is a good alternative if we want to run away from the typical pink or blue or even combine it with any of these two colors.
{What a joyful and playful atmosphere has been achieved in this game room, just adding a yellow touch to the furniture and the wall.}
{I LOVE this bedroom, and with yellow mustard it elevates it to another level, gives a more fun and original touch.}
{Yellow Mustard, blue, pink, green, everything is allowed.}
{The gray combining the pink, blue and mustard yellow, is ideal.}
{This room and the bedroom below is a good example of how well yellow mustard works in a children’s bedroom.}
Kitchen
Yellow in the kitchen? Why not?! It is very original color for covering walls or even furniture. Do you think it’s too much? Well, In this case my advise is give a yellow touch to your kitchen in the form of chairs or stools.
{After this photo, don’t tell me you don’t feel like putting a yellow fridge in your life.}
{I love this kitchen and this yellow chair is exactly what makes it funny.}
Dining Room
In the dining room we can play mostly with chairs. Wooden chairs or upholstered chairs, no matter the style, yellow will look great.
A picture in yellow tones or a painted wall will bring a lot of light to any dining room.
Bathroom
Finally, we can use yellow mustard in the bathroom. It is very uncommon because people do not want to ‘get married’ with this color, but the results are beautiful. I personally think it’s easier to put it in a guest bathroom, playing with some wallpaper in these tones or hydraulic tiles as in the first photo.
What do you think of yellow mustard? Were you convinced or not at all? Where would you like to put it and with what colors would you like to combine it with?
Thank you so much for the visit!
